It’s clear that without CEO commitment, diversity and inclusion cannot become an enterprise-wide priority. Stand-out CEOs who support this principle have become leading examples that others want to emulate. But even in these companies, commitment and involvement gaps may exist between the CEO and his or her direct reports, all of whom may not share the same vision and conviction that diversity and inclusion is vital for achieving business objectives.
The first portion of the CEO Roundtable will explore such issues as:
How do you drive diversity and inclusion in your organization and what can you do to spread the commitment across the C suite and beyond?
What are the keys for getting the full buy-in of the C-suite for diversity and inclusion?
We hear a lot about “tone at the middle”. How do you hold your leaders accountable for creating an inclusive culture “on the ground”?
How diversity and inclusion principles can be embedded into business functions to optimize such efforts as:
- the globalization of shared services
- managing M&A
- accelerating R&D
- expanding sales and marketing
- getting the most from virtual, global teams
- reducing real estate and/or carbon footprint
- shaping global ethics
- deploying an increasingly mobile workforce
In addition, as companies take diversity and inclusion global, they are butting up against compliance issues. Most notably, companies are acknowledging the lack of progress for women and for ethnic or racial minorities. Given the need to focus on compliance, companies are beginning to consider quota systems to address their own gaps. In the second portion of the Roundtable, CEOs will explore together whether quotas can move us forward in our diversity and inclusion efforts.
