Q. How are topics chosen for Diversity Best Practices? A. Topics are recommended by the DBP Council and our members. The agenda is set for the upcoming year based upon member input and recommendations. Business sessions, conference calls, research and publications follow accordingly. Q. Who are Diversity Best Practices Council members? What are their responsibilities? A. The Diversity Best Practices Council is composed of member companies that demonstrate “best practices.” The council is in charge of exploring issues for in-depth discussion and research. Council meetings provide an opportunity for diversity leaders to engage in dialogue on issues facing their companies and the membership at large. Recommendations are then made to DBP staff on issues of emerging importance. Council members are committed to participate in three of four meetings during the calendar year. This process helps DBP to ensure our members remain on the “cutting edge” of diversity management. Q. How do I become a member of the Diversity Best Practices Council? A. If you are a DBP member and are interested in becoming an active member of the DBP Council, please contact your account executive.
Q. Outside of the Diversity Best Practices Council what are other opportunities for my company to engage in dialogue with other diversity leaders beyond the basid membership? A. Diversity Best Practices has established working committees and industry roundtables. Currently, we have a global committee, a utility industry roundtable, and a healthcare industry roundtable. If you are interested in participating in one of the working groups, or in starting your own industry roundtable, please contact your account executive.
Q. What is the Global Committee? A. Surveys of Diversity Best Practices members indicate that over the next five years (through 2011) there will be a doubling of the effort to support an inclusive global workforce, marketplace, community and supplier base. With the global growth of market share comes an increased responsibility to increase public commitment and private investment in corporate diversity strategy and programs. In response to this development, in 2005, Diversity Best Practices created the Global Committee. This committee offers the platform to network with global thought leaders and tap their intellectual capital, participate in meetings held overseas, and have access to powerful, relevant U.S. and global data, including reports, publications, and presentations.
A. Diversity Best Practices hosts three signature events annually – the WOW! Facts Event in early summer, the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Summit & Gala in November, and the Network & Affinity Leadership Congress (NALC), formerly known as Trailblazers. Each event requires a separate registration fee for attendance not included in the annual membership fee.
Q. What is the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Summit & Gala? A. Since its start in 1994, the Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Summit & Gala has provides a forum for diversity advocates to engage in pioneering leadership discussions around key diversity issues.
