CEO Diversity Leadership Award Education Logo

With corporations facing the daunting task of responding to colossal shifts in business, political, and cultural landscapes, it is vital that higher education institutions also respond to these challenges, changes, and trends. As agents who foster the academic, social and emotional growth of America's future generations of leaders, workers and consumers, these institutions of learning must be aligned with the changing needs, demands, and interests of our global workplace and marketplace. Universities and colleges acting as beacons for change are essentially mentors, cheerleaders, and stewards of societal advancement in theory and practice. They take on the extraordinary responsibility of ensuring that diversity and inclusion takes a prominent seat among top institutional imperatives. This year–for the first time–Diversity Best Practices will review and analyze leading higher education institutions and their no-excuses commitment to provide opportunity for all.

Recognizing outstanding leadership in higher education, Diversity Best Practices' CEO Diversity Leadership Award for Higher Education is presented annually to an exemplary accredited university or college that champions diversity through impactful and forward-thinking initiatives. Institutions that are awarded this prestigious honor strive to incorporate policies and practices of diversity, inclusion, and cultural competency into their everyday operations. They also serve as role models for other institutions in creating fairness and opportunity for all through best practices in curriculum, community affairs, supplier diversity, and employee and student body representation.

Presidents and/or Chancellors personally accept the CEO Diversity Leadership Award for Higher Education on behalf of their institutions. These dynamic leaders serve as guides and visionaries by holding their organizations accountable for delivering on a longstanding commitment to diversity that will establish a "Living Legacy." The ultimate honoree of the 2008 CEO Diversity Leadership Award for Higher Education will be recognized at Diversity Best Practices' signature annual event–theCEO Diversity Leadership Awards Gala–on November 12-13, 2008, in Washington, DC. The respective President/Chancellor will join other award-winning leaders on November 13, for participation in our one-of-a-kind CEO Forum and accept the award during the Gala dinner.
