Through a partnership with BET, NASCAR is showcasing its Drive for Diversity initiative with a reality television program, reports Bloomberg Businessweek. “Changing Lanes,” which debuted last Wednesday, features 10 young women and minority racecar drivers who are competing for four spots on a NASCAR team. The participants believe the show’s presence on BET will expose a different audience to a sport in which women and minorities are significantly underrepresented. The show’s creator hopes it will provide the young drivers with access to sponsors that can fund their racing aspirations and broaden the make up of the field.
