PepsiCo UK scooped the prestigious Corporation of the Year Award at the UK’s leading supplier diversity event last night. Recognising their outstanding approach to supplier diversity, PepsiCo UK narrowly pipped ExxonMobil to the post at the Minority Supplier Development UK (MSDUK) 2010 Awards. Ian Brennan, European procurement manager at PepsiCo UK, also picked up an award for Supplier Diversity Advocate of the Year. Security company Octavian picked up awards for Supplier of the Year and Responsible Business Practice.

The Awards were presented by BBC presenter Hardeep Singh Kohli at the Marriott Grosvenor Square Hotel in London.

Mayank Shah, Director of MSDUK, said: “PepsiCo UK is an excellent advocate for supplier diversity and Ian’s work has been inspiration to many of our members over the last two years. By introducing a formal mentoring scheme for Ethnic Minority Businesses (EMBs) and awarding a large contract to one of our members, PepsiCo UK established itself as the front runner for this award. Similarly, Octavian has continued to build on its success after being named Britain’s 27th fastest growing company and deservedly picked up the Supplier of the Year Award.”

We want to celebrate their success and inspire others to follow their lead. One interesting trend is that three of the awards winners are from the East Midlands. The message it sends to suppliers across the country is loud and clear – your location doesn’t matter when it comes to doing business with global firms, what matters is quality, service and competitive price’
