Diversity in the News: End Diversity Programs, Says Sen. Webb
In a recent Wall Street Journal op-ed titled, “Diversity and the Myth of White Privilege,” Virginia Sen. James Webb (D) argues that white workers are being marginalized by government-enforced diversity policies. While Webb supports some preferential programs for African Americans, he does not believe they are necessary for other ethnic and immigrant groups and has likened such affirmative programs to “state-sponsored racism.” Webb’s views on affirmative action are widely known; however, his newest remarks have prompted criticism from other high-profile Democrats.
