Brian Burlingame began his professional career in the United States Navy serving 22 years on active duty as a naval pilot. His assignments included combat duty during Desert Storm and Kosovo operations, serving as the commanding officer of a naval flight squadron, and as a senior leader at the US Naval Academy. Brian having selected for the rank of Captain retired from the US Navy in 2001.
His transition from the Navy and subsequent hiring by Merck Pharmaceuticals into the Merck Sigma Group was the beginning of a second professional career. In mid- 2004, Brian joined Lockheed Martin leading International Business Development efforts for Lockheed Martin’s Maritime Sensors and Systems Division, leading sales efforts in the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. Brian rejoined Merck in September 2006. Currently, Brian is leading the Change efforts, across Merck's Global Service Function.
Brian holds an undergraduate degree from the United States Naval Academy and MS degree from the National Defense University in Washington, DC.
