Carlos Dominguez

Senior Vice President, Office of the Chairman and CEO, Cisco ,

Carlos Dominguez is a Senior Vice President in Cisco’s Office of the Chairman of the Board and CEO and a technology evangelist, speaking to and motivating audiences worldwide about how technology is changing how we communicate, collaborate, and especially how we work. Carlos gives humorous, highly-animated presentations full of deep insight into how technology, and the right culture, can transform a company and help create a very loyal and engaged customer base. Drawing from his 18 years working at Cisco, he first creates the big picture of how technology is impacting business -- and the wider world -- then is very prescriptive in describing where to start and how to use technology to be successful in the new Internet economy.

Carlos also enjoys talking about the psychology behind technology and social media; for example, WHY people spend an average of an hour a day on Facebook, and why people adapt to certain technologies and social media more than others. Carlos is particularly excited about video and mobility, and says these technologies are becoming very ubiquitous and taking off just like the Internet did in 1995.

See Carlos demo various uses of TelePresence, Cisco's high definition video system: in New Jersey with high school students talking to their peers in Atlanta, giving a demo of TelePresence over Ustream and showing virtual presenter at the Association of National Advertisers.

Among his favorite topics are:

  • The importance of culture, especially one that is adaptable to change

  • Gaming is not just for kids anymore, and its impact on the future of learning

  • Leveraging the virtual world: What it means for meetings

  • Generation Y: How to attract and learn from the 20-something-year-olds

  • Social media: It’s not what you say any more, it’s what they say
