David L. Casey

Vice President, Workplace Culture and Chief Diversity Officer ,  

Bachelor of Science degree with a major in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Joined WellPoint in December of 2001. Leads the development and execution of enterprise wide diversity management and organizational culture strategies to drive organizational change in alignment with business strategy.

Currently leads a team of associates focused on employment branding, recruitment, retention, development and effective engagement of a diverse workforce; affirmative action and EEO programs; consultation with executive leadership teams on matters of multicultural markets, cultural competency and ethnic health status disparities; culture shaping methodologies that support corporate objectives.

Prior to coming to WellPoint, was the Regional Director of Business Development for Bernard Hodes Group. In this role, he consulted on matters of diversity management and employer branding with regional, national, and international clients including Eli Lilly & Company, Rolls-Royce North America, Thomson Multimedia, Mead Johnson Nutritionals, Purdue University, and American Family Insurance.

A veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having served in Operation Desert Storm. Currently serves on the Board of Directors for Park Tudor School (Class of '86). Serves as a Distinguished Advisor to the Indianapolis Children's Museum and on the advisory boards for Profiles in Diversity Journal, the American Institute for Managing Diversity and PRISM International. Has served on the Board of Directors for the Indianapolis Urban League and three consecutive appointments by the former Mayor of Indianapolis, Bart Peterson, to the board of directors for the Indianapolis Private Industry Council. Served as Chairman for the 2006 United Way of Central Indiana Minority Key Club campaign. Inducted into the National Eagle Leadership Institute in 2006. Recognized by the Indianapolis Business Journal as one of Indianapolis' 40 Under 40. Contributing columnist for Profiles in Diversity Journal magazine. Cited in DiversityInc, the Indianapolis Star, Diversity/Careers in Engineering & Information Technology, and African American Career World. Serves as a guest lecturer on strategic diversity management for the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. Featured as a keynote speaker for the Indiana Law Journal's "Diversity in Practice" conference, the IMPACT 2008 conference on Talent Management, the Indiana Hospice and Healthcare Association, the New Hampshire Chamber of Commerce, International Quality & Productivity Center and the Conference Board, the Indiana State Health Care Human Resources Association and the National Restaurant Association.

Resides in Indianapolis, Indiana with his wife and three children.
