Kerrie Peraino

Chief Diversity Officer ,  

Kerrie Peraino is Chief Diversity Officer of American Express Company, a position she assumed in September 2008.  She is responsible for developing the company’s global diversity and inclusion strategy for more than 60,000 employees in over 100 markets.

Diversity and inclusion at American Express is about creating and maintaining an environment that enables the company to be more inclusive – both internally and externally. Kerrie leads the company’s efforts to attract, hire, develop, and retain diverse talent and to create an engaging global workplace in which all people can succeed. She and her team also provide strategic direction to the company’s travel and payment businesses to understand and engage the broadest base of customers worldwide.

Most recently, Kerrie was responsible for launching “Women in the Pipeline & at the Top,” and global effort designed to spearhead the positioning, advancement and retention of our female leaders.  As part of this initiative, American Express recently hosted the inaugural Women’s Conference for more than 150 senior female executives from around the world, is rolling out gender intelligence education globally, and has initiated a program to showcase and promote the importance of sponsorship. 

Kerrie joined American Express in 1996 as a corporate communicator for American Express Business Travel.  She was named a Vice President of talent management for global commercial card and business travel in June 2004.  She assumed the role of a Vice President of Human Resources for international consumer card and small business services in 2005.  In 2007, Kerrie was named Vice President of Human Resources for global business travel, overseeing human resources for travel services offered to corporate clients worldwide.

She holds a BA in Communications from Rutgers University and a MA in Corporate Communications from Seton Hall University. Kerrie resides in New Jersey with her husband David and three children.
