Kim Strong

Vice President, Diversity & Inclusion ,  Target

Kim Strong began her career at Marshall Field’s, once a division of Target Corporation, in 1988 as an Executive-in-Training. She was promoted through multiple management positions over the next seven years.  In 1995 Kim advanced and joined Mervyn’s, also once a division of Target Corporation.  She was initially assigned as an Operations Manager and then was promoted to the District Human Resource Manager overseeing 15 Mervyn’s stores in Michigan.  In 2000, Kim was named Director of Human Resources for Mervyn’s.  This included managing Human Resources for Stores, Headquarters and Distribution Centers.  In 2004, she was promoted to the Director of Human Resources for Target Stores.  Shortly thereafter, in 2007, Kim was promoted to the position of Regional Vice President, Stores Human Resources, overseeing more than 70,000 team members in 13 states.  In January 2011, Kim was promoted to Vice President, Diversity and Inclusion for Target.

She received her Bachelors of Business Administration from Howard University in Washington DC. Kim is an active member on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Black Dance Theater, Dallas Theatre Center, and member of Executive Leadership Council, a national membership organization for African-American executives. She is also a member of Jack & Jill of America, Inc., an organization for African-American children to experience social and educational activities.  In addition, Kim has recently become a member of The Links, an international women's service organization.

Kim and her husband are the proud parents of two young men.
