Lisa Horuczi Markus

 

Lisa Horuczi Markus is director of diversity and inclusion for William Jordan Associates; vice president, institutional investing for The Capital and Enterprise Development Group; and founder and president of Change One Life. Horuczi Markus is a former award-winning journalist, mother of two grade schoolers and author of the Financial Planning Association-recommended book Living a Blessed Life: Walking in Faith, Growing in Wealth.

For more than a decade, Lisa worked with Fortune 500 companies as a consultant for Hewitt Associates an d Fidelity Investments, as well as for nonprofits, churches and public organizations. Her work focused on researching the impact of ethnicity, gender and age on investing behavior, developing solutions to build financial security among diverse populations and improving retirement readiness. Lisa partnered with Black Associates at Hewitt Associates and the National Black MBA Association to develop the “Show Me the Money” financial education workshop featured at the 2008 National Black MBA Annual Conference. She developed an integrated solution with South County Outreach (SCO) and local church groups that included financial education workshops, a makeover day and a prayer support program for women on SCO’s housing and food assistance programs. The initiative resulted in 70 percent of participants being able to afford their own housing, acquire jobs and start emergency funds within six months.

Lisa has an MBA and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Michigan State University, where she graduated with the school’s highest honor in journalism. While a student, she won a world travel grant to research and report on the emergence of the independent press after the fall of Communism. Lisa is a member of the Financial Planning Association’s Diversity Taskforce and started the “Financial Freedom for Women” workshop at Saddleback Church, where she volunteers in the business ministry. She currently consults for the world’s most progressive financial institutions interested in creating competitive advantage from inclusion.
