Susan Welch is the founder, lead communicator and primary writer for Q Communications Consulting. She is the former executive director for Diversity Best Practices, where she provided operational direction to the organization’s editorial, event, research, membership, and consulting services.
Prior to Diversity Best Practices, Sue worked at Aon Hewitt, where she handled research, writing, and knowledge management projects for a variety of functions, most significantly Aon Hewitt's internal and client-facing diversity and inclusion efforts. She supported Diversity Best Practices’ President Andrés Tapia (then Aon Hewitt’s Chief Diversity Officer) as he authored his book, The Inclusion Paradox. She also contributed blog posts and additional content to the companion website, InclusionParadox.com. Sue led multiple thought-leadership and market-development initiatives at Aon Hewitt, and managed projects for both the research practice and the diversity consulting team.
Before joining Hewitt, Sue spent 10 years at Accenture, where she pioneered the firm’s first internal newsletter as well as its “paperless” communications effort. At Accenture, she played project management and editorial roles in both knowledge management and marketing and communications. Sue also spent a few years in the publishing business, working for several trade journals.
Sue has a master’s degree in philosophy from DePaul University and a bachelor’s degree from Marquette University, where she double-majored in journalism and political science. She lives in Libertyville, Ill. with her husband, Geoff, and two children, Joe, 11, and Colleen, 9.
